So guys it’s story time
When I was little, I couldn’t watch The Little Mermaid because the scene where Ursula gets the magic scepter thing and she blows up like a huge balloon freaked me out. She just scared the shit out of me, so for the longest time I would avoid that movie. I have a younger sister and she LOVED that movie so she’d watch it all the time, and whenever she started watching I would just leave the room. I guess my parents didn’t really catch on, because one day when I was like 6 or whatever they decided to take my sister and me to see The Little Mermaid in movie theaters (it was being rereleased or something I guess?)
Anyways so we get to the theater and I’m trying to seem cool, y’know it’s been a while since I’ve watched it and maybe this time it wouldn’t scare me? Alas I was sorely mistaken, I was doing until until it got to that fateful scene and the ocean got all stormy and she started swelling up. I screamed “LITTLE CHILDREN SHOULDN’T SEE THINGS LIKE THIS” and hid under the seat until my dad got me out and took me home.
Three years later they took me to see The Little Mermaid On Ice, in which they actually got a giant balloon Ursula to blow up.
I have yet to try and watch the movie again.
